Chatham-Kent Municipal Holiday Hours

Municipal offices and most services will be closed on December 25, 26, 27 and January 1. We are open regularly scheduled hours on December 28 and 29.

Other services are scheduled as follows:

Cemeteries: Cemetery staff will be on call for funeral homes that require at-need sales.

Ride CK: Services will be closed on December 25, 26 and January 1.

Service Ontario: Both the Chatham and Dresden locations will be closed December 25-27, and January 1, 2024.

Municipal Centres: All Municipal Centres will be closed on December 25, 26, 27 and January 1.

Emergency Services: Police, Fire, and Ambulance are operational 24 hours a day, every day, and are accessible by dialling “911” for emergency calls only. The Fire Administration office will be closed on December 25, 26, 27 and January 1 and re-opening on Tuesday, January 2 at 8:30 a.m.

Arts and Culture:

CK Tickets Box Office hours at the Chatham Cultural Centre are:

  • Open 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. December 18 to 22 (closed for lunch hour 12:30-1:30 p.m. each day).
  • Closed: December 25 & 26 and January 1st.
  • Re-opening: December 27, 28, 29, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (closed for lunch hour 12:30-1:30 p.m. each day).

The Chatham-Kent Museum is closed on December 24, 25, 26, 31 and January 1 and 2. The Milner Heritage House and Ridge House Museum are now closed for the season.

The Thames Art Gallery and ARTspace will be closed on December 24, 25, 26, 31 and January 1 and 2.

Entegrus: Entegrus will be closed from December 26 – January 1, re-opening on January 2. The emergency call number is 519-352-6300.

Public Utilities Commission: PUC will be closed on December 25, 26, 29th and January 1, 2024.

Employment and Social Services: Employment & Social Services will be closed December 25-26, 2023, reopening Wednesday, December 27. The office will be closed on Monday, January 1, 2024, and reopening on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. The Homeless Response Line at 519-354-6628 is available 24 hours a day, seven (7) days a week for homeless emergencies within Chatham-Kent.

Housing Services: Housing Services will be closed December 25-26, reopening December 27. The office will be closed on Monday, January 1, and reopening on Tuesday, January 2.

EarlyON: The Chatham EarlyON Centre will be closed on December 25, 26, 27 and January 1, but open on December 28, 29 and 30. All other EarlyON centres will be closed from December 25 to January 1, reopening on January 2.

CK Public Health: CK Public Health offices will be closed December 25-27 and January 1. Essential after-hours Public Health services are available by calling 1-866-446-8207.

Riverview Gardens: Reception and administrative offices will be closed on December 25, 26, and January 1. Nursing staff can be reached 24/7 by calling 519-352-4823.

Libraries: All branches of the Chatham-Kent Public Library will be closed on December 25, 26, 27, 31, and January 1 and 2.

Provincial Offences Court: Closed to the public December 25-29 and January 1 but phones will be answered December 27, 28 and 29. Regular business hours 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. will resume on January 2nd.

Please note that during office closures fines can continue to be paid online at www.paytickets.ca and requests for a meeting with the prosecutor can be filed at www.ontario.ca/ticketsandfines. If your licence is under suspension for non-payment of a fine, you can attend Service Ontario to pay the outstanding fine and reinstatement fee.

Pools: The Blenheim Gable Rees Rotary Pool and Wallaceburg Sydenham Pool will be closed on December 24-26, December 31, and January 1. Please visit www.chatham-kent.ca/recreation for the pool schedules including free sponsored swimming.

Arenas: All arenas are closed on December 25, 26 and January 1. Free skate schedules are available at www.chatham-kent.ca/explore/Pages/Ice-Skating.aspx.

Waste and Recycling: Curbside garbage and recycling collection will be delayed by one day for the weeks of December 26 and January 1, 2024. Refer to the 2023 Recycling and Waste Collection Guide for further details.

Transfer Stations: The Chatham Township Transfer Station will be closed on December 25. The Harwich Transfer Station will be closed on December 25 and January 1. The Wallaceburg Transfer Station will be closed December 25-26 and January 1. All other Transfer Stations will be open during regular hours.

Leaf & Yard Depots: The Chatham Depot will be closed December 25-26 and January 1. The Romney Depot will be open during regular hours.

Public Works: Administrative offices will be closed on December 25, 26, 27 and January 1. Road and Water/Wastewater services will continue to operate as usual on December 27 but will be available for emergencies only on December 29 and January 1.
