Become A Lifeguard

Becoming a lifeguard or a swim instructor is a great student job! It looks amazing on a resume and can travel with you anywhere in Canada. Also, did we mention you start at $18 an hour?! Learn what you need to start your lifeguarding or swim instructor career today! 


Lifeguard Courses

To become a lifeguard, you are required to pass specific courses:

  • Bronze Medallion: Age 13+ or Bronze Star 
  • Bronze Cross: Bronze Medallion and Emergency First Aid 
  • National Lifeguard: Age 15+, Bronze Cross, and Standard First Aid

Swim Instructor Courses

To become a swim instructor, you are required to pass specific courses: 

  • Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor: 15 years of age by the end of the course and Bronze Cross (need not be current)
  • Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor: 15 years of age by the end of the course and Bronze Cross (need not be current)
