Outbreaks & Visiting Guidelines

Public Health has declared a Gastroenteritis Outbreak on unit 4 East at Riverview Gardens.

Additional Guidelines - Unit 4 East Only:

  • Please postpone non-essential visits.
  • Please do not visit more than one resident at a time.
  • Hand hygiene is critical before entering and when leaving the unit.
  • Activities will continue on this unit for non-ill residents.
  • Residents on this unit cannot attend activities on other units.
  • Residents residing on other units cannot attend activities on this unit.​

As a general reminder, please do not visit Riverview Gardens if you are sick and practice good hand hygiene if you are visiting.


COVID-19 Guidelines

On-Site Rapid Testing

  • Rapid Antigen Testing on-site is not required upon entry. 

Passive Screening

  • Self-monitoring and following signage posted at the entrance are mandatory – do not come into the building if you are sick.

Vaccines

  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccine is not required upon entry. 

Resident Absences

  • There are no COVID-19 guidelines regarding resident absences -  outbreak guidelines regarding absences may be made by the Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit.
  • Please notify a unit staff member that a resident is leaving the unit.

Indoor Visits

  • The visitor log book must be signed upon entering and exiting the building for both COVID-19 contact tracing purposes in the event of an outbreak, and to know who is in the building in the event of an emergency.

  • Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required to be worn when visiting a resident in isolation- we will continue to follow any direction provided by the Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit.

Masking

  • Effective March 4, 2024, there are no masking requirements.
  • Masks are located in the Robertson Ave and King Street entrances if you so choose to wear one in the building.
  • Masks continue to be required when designated as necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for rooms/ units that are in isolation or in outbreak status.
  • Chatham-Kent Public Health may provide direction for masks to be worn during high periods of risk in the community. 

Please Note:

  • We are requesting proper hand hygiene when in the building. 
  • Items for residents must be delivered directly to the resident. 
  • Guidelines are subject to change.
