Chatham-Kent is home to over 254 hectares of parkland across 184 unique locations. Our parks are a great place to read a book, go for a leisurely stroll or spend time together with family and friends.
General Park Rules
All municipal parks are governed by the Parks By-law, and we ask visitors to follow the posted rules to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. These rules also play an important role in preserving and protecting our parks for future generations.
Fit Parks
Fit Parks feature a range of outdoor fitness equipment made from durable, weather‑resistant materials and are completely free for the public to use. Each station provides simple instructions for safe operation and explains the health benefits of the exercise. Designed for all ages and skill levels, Fit Parks offer a balanced mix of flexibility, cardio, and strength‑training activities to support a full‑body workout.
Skateboard Parks
Chatham-Kent has 10 exciting skate parks throughout the area for all skill levels. From jumps, corners, steps and runs there is something for everyone to practice their skills and be active outdoors!
Safety First: Enjoy use of the skate parks year-round until dusk, depending on weather conditions. We do not supervise the skate parks and you use them at your own risk. The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is not responsible for any losses, damages or injuries resulting from the use of the skate park. We ask that all park users follow the guidelines below to reduce risk and ensure the enjoyment and safety of all:
- Wear the gear (helmet, elbow and kneepads).
- Wet or icy conditions are dangerous. Do not use the skate park when dangerous conditions exist.
- Take turns.
- Place all garbage in the containers provided.
- Inspect the skate park prior to using it to ensure safe conditions.
Chatham-Kent Public Health endorses the Parachute recommendations for skateboarding safety. Visit the Parachute website for more information on choosing a skateboard that's right for you, as well as skating safety and injury prevention.
