Summer ARTcrawl in Chatham

Summer ARTcrawl is back and hitting the streets of Chatham on Friday, June 16.

The Thames Art Gallery invites everyone to participate in this much-loved celebration of CK's vibrant art scene. Creativity is key in this welcoming and festive event. This summer's crawl features artist openings, live artist demonstrations, an interactive museum display and a live musical performance by CK sweethearts Deep Southwest.

ARTcrawl begins with an artist reception at ARTspace at 165 1/2 King Street at 5:00 pm featuring local artist François Grenier. Grenier is a finalist for the prestigious Winnifred Shantz Award for Ceramics and will present new work fresh from the kiln! His inventive techniques have catapulted him into the spotlight across the province.

Experience local art and live painting demonstrations by Ron Vermeiren and Louise Carbonneau Vermeiren at Art & Heirloom, 137 King Street West. Vicki McFarland will conduct a live painting performance set to music at the Cultural Center between 6:30 pm and 8:00 pm featuring the support of Chatham Phoenix Cheer.

The evening culminates at 8:00 pm with three opening celebrations at the Chatham Cultural Centre at 75 William Street North. In the Thames Art Gallery’s Main Gallery space, London area painter Kim Neudorf presents their exhibition of paintings. Neudorf's paintings are complex and visually stunning, influencing a generation of emerging artists. In the Thames Art Gallery’s Mezzanine Gallery, Chatham's Andrea Vuletin joins fellow artists Lesley McInally, Darlene Pratt and Dushka Vujovic for an exhibition celebrating their artistic growth and friendship developed through the pandemic. To round things out, CK Museum will be opening its brand-new family-friendly exhibition Soil Superheroes.

The evening finds it second wind with a live music performance featuring CK's own Deep Southwest in Studio One, Chatham Cultural Centre. The music starts at 9:00 pm so bring your dancing boots and see where the evening takes you!

Event maps are available online at tagartspace.com. Everyone is encouraged to enjoy a night out, make new acquaintances and celebrate Chatham-Kent's vibrant art scene.
