New Exhibitions Take Flight at ARTspace in Time for Crowfest

ARTspace is elated to present a series of whimsical new works celebrating the fall season.

Headlining is "Blood Ties" a new exhibition of assemblages and sculptures by artists Laurie Langford and Mike Ondrovcik exploring the notion of kin. Regional ceramicist, Chris Snedden’s work is also on display as he celebrates Crowfest with a signature line of ceramics entitled "Echo of Crows."

Both exhibitions open to the public on October 12 at ARTspace. An artist's reception will be held on Friday, October 14 at 7:00 pm. This is a free, family-friendly event. All are welcome.

Respected members of the CK art scene for many years, Laurie Langford and Mike Ondrovcik decided to team up in pursuit of a shared vision. Through the long months of pandemic isolation, they became keenly aware of their connection to family and the rich and complex influence it holds. In addition to providing a safe harbour through difficult times, family is also a source of personal identity that often finds its roots somewhere in the nebulous mysteries of memory and the gene pool.

Langford and Ondrovcik are recognized for their humour, curiosity, and ability to transform ordinary materials into flights of visual fancy. Assemblages or expressively sculpted forms characterize these artists' works as they look to their family histories for inspiration.

Regional ceramicist Chris Snedden is no newcomer to a fascination with the celebrated and mischievous blackbird, the crow. His display "Echo of Crows" includes finely crafted plates, mugs, and teapots.

Join us in welcoming these artists to the gallery along with new work by ARTspace members and a brand-new window installation.

The artists will be present to speak about their work, so don't miss this opportunity to introduce yourself, support our local art scene, and experience the vibrant and growing artistic community of Chatham-Kent.
ARTspace is located at 165½ King Street West in downtown Chatham and is open from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm Wednesday through Saturday. For more information, visit www.tagartspace.com.

We look forward to seeing you!
