Municipality Launches Go Green Awards to Recognize Environmental Champions

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is collaborating with Can-Am Recycling of Tilbury to sponsor a new environmental award program, the Go Green Awards. The program will allow residents to nominate companies, classrooms, and individuals for a variety of environmental awards, with winners receiving a plaque and recognition for their efforts.

The Go Green Awards is an initiative aimed at recognizing and promoting environmental stewardship in the community. The awards will be evaluated by other environmental stakeholders in the community, such as the local conservation authorities, CK to the Power of Young People Advisory Group, and the Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce.

"We are thrilled to collaborate with Can-Am Recycling and launch the Go Green Awards program," said Mayor Darrin Canniff. "This program is an excellent opportunity for the Municipality to recognize the hard work and dedication of individuals, organizations, and businesses who are making a positive impact on our environment."

Nominations for the Go Green Awards will be open to all residents of Chatham-Kent. The awards will recognize a wide range of environmental efforts, including waste reduction, energy conservation, sustainable transportation, and environmental education. The awards will also recognize efforts to protect and restore natural areas and wildlife habitats in the community.

"We encourage everyone in the community to nominate individuals, organizations, and businesses who are doing exceptional work to protect our environment," added the Mayor. "We believe the Go Green Awards will serve as a source of inspiration for all of us to do our part in preserving the natural beauty of our community."

The Go Green Awards program is a part of the Municipality’s commitment to environmental sustainability and promoting a green economy in the region. The program will help to showcase the great work being done by local environmental champions and inspire others to join the effort.

Nominations for the Go Green Awards will be open soon. More information on the nomination process and criteria will be available on the Municipality of Chatham-Kent's website in the coming weeks. The award ceremony is planned for later this year.

The Municipality and Can-Am Recycling are excited about the potential for this program to raise awareness about environmental issues and encourage more people to take action to protect the environment.

“At Can-Am Recycling, we're committed to promoting environmental sustainability in everything we do," said Lawrence Pazner. "That's why we're proud to sponsor the Go Green Awards, an initiative that recognizes the individuals, organizations, and businesses who are making a real difference in the fight against climate change. As a recycling company, we understand the importance of reducing waste and conserving resources," continued Pazner. "We believe that the Go Green Awards are a powerful way to highlight the positive impact that can be achieved when individuals and organizations work together to build a more sustainable future. We're excited to be part of this important initiative and look forward to seeing the inspiring stories of environmental champions in Chatham-Kent and beyond.”
