Chatham-Kent Launches New Film Office

Chatham-Kent is pleased to announce the opening of the new film office, FLiCK (Filming Locally in Chatham-Kent), to support the growth of the film industry in the community. With the increasing demand for film production outside the Greater Toronto Area, Chatham-Kent has recognized an opportunity to provide unique and attractive locations for film productions to take place.

"Chatham-Kent film ready. We’re beautiful, diverse, and have so much to offer the film industry," said Mayor Darrin Canniff. "Our new film office, FLiCK, will support growth in this exciting industry for our community while also showcasing the unique and beautiful locations that Chatham-Kent has to offer."

Having a thriving film industry active within a community plays a vital role in economic development, and by establishing FLiCK, Chatham-Kent aims to capitalize on the economic potential of the film industry, fostering job growth in various sectors such as hospitality, transportation, and local businesses that provide goods and services to film productions. The economic spinoff that film productions bring to a community is substantial and Chatham-Kent is excited to welcome this growth.

FLiCK will offer film production companies a range of services to support their projects, including location scouting, permit assistance, and access to local crews, talent, and equipment. With significant tax breaks available for productions film outside of the Greater Toronto Area, Chatham-Kent is the perfect location for film productions to take advantage of these benefits.

As our administration continues to develop the necessary policies and obtains Council approval for the components of the services FLiCK will offer, further detailed information will be shared at www.chatham-kent.ca/flick.

Daniel Turres of Pageman Productions, a highly respected film producer, shared their anticipation, saying, "Chatham-Kent offers a captivating backdrop for filmmakers, with its diverse landscapes, historic sites, and welcoming community. The launch of FLiCK demonstrates the Municipality's dedication to supporting the film industry and attracting creative talent to the area."
