Announcing the Chatham Capitol Theatre 2022 - 2023 Season

The Capitol Theatre’s sensational new season kicks off on October 2, with the much-anticipated Chatham-Kent debut of The Tenors!

After an extended intermission due to the COVID pandemic, the Capitol Theatre is roaring back to life with its first “Capitol Presents” season in three years!

The 2022-2023 season is a star-studded collection of nine shows featuring Canadian music legends (Jann Arden, Randy Bachman, Gowan, Irish Rovers), international vocal phenoms (The Tenors, Choir! Choir! Choir!), an award-winning theatrical event (The Mush Hole), and unforgettable evenings of musical and comedy adventure (Hyprov, The Queen’s Cartoonists).

October 2: A not-to-be-missed, one-night-only performance by The Tenors – at the start of a brand-new chapter for the phenomenally popular group! Canada's Mark Masri and Sicily's Alberto Urso have recently joined Clifton Murray and Victor Micallef to form a brand-new quartet, and this will be their first tour together. A Tenors concert is always a memorable musical journey, filled with incredible harmonies, stunning arrangements of some of the best-loved songs of all time, and inspired self-penned originals.

October 12: The Mush Hole tells the story of Canada’s first Indian Residential School, the Mohawk Institute, and honours the resilience, courage, and strength of residential-school survivors. This award-winning theatre piece from Six Nations choreographer Santee Smith is performed by the internationally acclaimed Kaha:wi Dance Theatre. Visceral performances by an all-Indigenous cast highlight this unforgettable story about finding hope and light in the darkest of places.

November 25: Canadian rock legend Gowan is back! Internationally acclaimed solo artist and Styx frontman Lawrence Gowan and his band will take to the Capitol stage to perform hits like Strange Animal, A Criminal Mind and Moonlight Desires. Gowan’s powerful vocals, awe-inspiring keyboard virtuosity and electrifying stage presence will guarantee an incredible night of live music.

January 27: Whether captivating audiences with her heartfelt music, entertaining them with her quick wit or sharing her written word in a boldly honest voice, Jann Arden never fails to wow audiences with her brilliant, multi-faceted talent. The multi-platinum award-winning singer, songwriter, actress and author has amassed 19 top ten singles. Her most recent album, Descendant, is a bold, beautiful, and empowering collection of songs reflecting on where she came from and where she is headed, with her trademark grace and honesty.

February 4: Enjoy an evening of classic and contemporary animated cartoons, with the audio tracks performed live on stage! Hailing from Queens, New York, and having played in esteemed concert halls and street corners across the nation, The Queen’s Cartoonists are six world-class musicians who lead audiences through a truly unique musical experience. A nostalgic and entertaining “musical circus” complete with instrumental mayhem and comedy, this is an immersive concert experience for all ages.

February 18: Back by popular demand! Hypnosis and improvisation come together in this totally unique, hilarious night of comedy featuring comedy legend Colin Mochrie and master hypnotist Asad Mecci. In Hyprov: Improv Under Hypnosis, audience members are called onstage to participate in a jaw-dropping exploration of the subconscious mind. (Think carefully before you raise your hand!)

February 19: Sing out your 80s memories with the incomparable vocal phenomenon that is Choir! Choir! Choir! With tens of millions of YouTube views and an avid fan base around the world, Nobu Adilman and Daveed Goldman have taken group choral singing to a new level, blurring the lines between artist and audience, practice, and performance. In their Epic 80s Singalong, the audience becomes the choir, learning a favourite 80s song from scratch and performing it live. Experience the rush of choral singing – no audition or training required!

March 4: At long last, the legendary Irish Rovers return to the Capitol Theatre stage! These Kings of Celtic have been honoured as one of Ireland’s greatest exports. The Rovers’ recent album release Saints and Sinners reflected the history of the band and their roots; and this year, the lads celebrate getting back to the stage with their 2022 release, No End in Sight. Fasten your seat belt for a rollicking night of the hits, new releases, and hilarious stories from their years on the road.

March 23: Out of a global pandemic comes a new story from father-son duo Randy Bachman (The Guess Who, Bachman-Turner Overdrive) and acclaimed solo artist Tal Bachman. Following the success of their musical careers, the pair now tell stories through song and visuals as Bachman & Bachman. The show includes a mix of old hits, plus brand-new songs they’ve written together from their album Shadows of Yesterday, a 13-chapter masterpiece built over two generations.
