The Municipality of Chatham-Kent's Arts & Culture team is pleased to announce that it will be supporting several upcoming community events, including RetroFest on May 23, and the CK Arts Council Studio Tour on May 30 and 31.
ARTSpace’s hours will be adjusted for RetroFest: open Saturday, May 23, 10am–3pm (regular hours 12–5pm). A drop-in activity using collage techniques to create artwork of classic cars will be available for participants!
Feeling snacky? Just down the road, Capitol Theatre staff will host an outdoor concession stand from 10am–3pm, offering pop, candy, and popcorn for purchase. CK Museums will be on site as well with a family friendly drop-in activity! The Capitol Theatre is located at 238 King St. W, Chatham.
The 4th annual CK Arts Council Studio Tour is coming up fast! On Saturday, May 30 from 10am – 4pm, and Sunday, May 31, from 12–4pm, join 100+ artists exhibiting their work at 25 locations across Chatham-Kent.
At the Chatham Cultural Centre, Studio Two will be operating as an Artist Hub with 9 potters, painters, and weavers sharing their work with the art-curious! The Chatham Cultural Centre is located at 75 William St. N, Chatham.
For the Studio Tour, ARTSpace hours will be extended to include Sunday from 12–5pm. Throughout the weekend, member works will be on display and available for purchase. Visitors will be invited to contribute to a communal art piece.
Currently on exhibit in ARTSpace is Bryan Halls’ Psalms: Part One, featuring figurative representations of Psalms 1 through 30 - the first installment of his project to create artwork for all 150 Psalms. If you’ve been wanting to Halls’ work, this is your last chance – “Psalms: Part One” closes on the last day of the CK Arts Council Studio Tour, May 31.
ARTSpace is located at 165 King St. W, Chatham. Please note that ARTSpace will be closed to the public on Wednesday, May 27.
