The Municipality is developing a new Mobility Master Plan to guide transportation planning and support the Municipality’s long-term vision. The plan will align with the updates to the Municipality’s Growth Strategy and Official Plan to ensure transportation networks support future growth.
The Mobility Master Plan will set the direction for transportation over the next 20 years, helping the Municipality to plan for and support how people move within our communities, between our communities, and across Chatham-Kent. This plan will focus on practical, targeted improvements that make the best use of existing roads and infrastructure, including improving route connections, street design, and how the transportation system operates.
“Chatham-Kent continues to grow and evolve, and this Mobility Master Plan is about making sure our transportation network grows with us,” said Mayor Darrin Canniff. “By planning ahead, we can create safer, more connected communities and ensure residents, businesses, and visitors can move efficiently throughout the municipality. This work will help support quality of life and economic opportunity across Chatham-Kent for years to come.”
The plan will be shaped through ongoing engagement, with multiple opportunities for residents, businesses, landowners, and community members to share their input throughout the process with in-person and online methods for engagement.
The first opportunity to share your perspectives will be at a Public Information Centre (PIC). This PIC will include an in-person open-house style meeting as well as materials shared online on the Lets Talk page to offer an opportunity for community members to comment on existing opportunities and challenges with the transportation network as well as review the draft vision for the project.
The in-person meeting will take place on Tuesday April 14, 2026 from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Links of Kent Golf Club & Event Centre at 120 Indian Creek Rd West in Chatham. All of the content will also be available online for review and comments will be invited between April 14 and April 28, 2026 for those who are unable to attend in person. “This plan provides a strategic framework to help us make informed, cost-effective decisions about our growing transportation system,” said Edward Soldo, General Manager of Infrastructure and Engineering Services. “The feedback from our community will help ensure the recommended transportation improvements meet both current and future needs."
