The Employer Engagement Database is a directory connecting local businesses with schools to engage students on career exploration information, local employment, and student placement opportunities. It is an initiative between the Municipality of Chatham-Kent’s Community Attraction and Promotion team and local school boards to connect local employers and careers to students.
The Employer Engagement Database allows employers to identify various ways they can engage with students by listing their talent attraction needs, availability and preferred interaction methods such as sharing videos, workplace tours, workplace employment opportunities, student placements, in-class speaker sessions, webinars, and LivingCK employer web stories.
“Having a broad range of co-op placement opportunities for our students supports them in exploring potential future careers. “The Chatham-Kent Employer Engagement Database allows local employers to showcase their companies and offer valuable career exploration opportunities to students. This will open the doors for our students to find co-op placements tailored to their interests and allow students to see the potential career pathways available right in their own community of Chatham-Kent as they prepare for the future,” Chris Kehoe, Superintendent of Education for St. Clair Catholic District School Board.
Strengthening local students access to learning opportunities with employers to better understand local careers prospects encourages them to stay or come back to Chatham-Kent to work and live.
