The Municipality of Chatham-Kent operates eight depots that provide a variety of waste management services, including blue box recycling, e-waste disposal, scrap metal recycling, battery disposal, used oil recycling, garbage disposal, etc. These services are available to all residents; however, free disposal of household garbage and blue box recyclables is limited to residents who do not receive curbside municipal collection.
Waste Depot Permit Renewal
Residents living in rural areas who do not receive municipal curbside garbage collection are invited to renew their Waste Depot Permits. Permit renewal is free of charge.
To support residents, the Municipality is hosting 14 renewal events across 8 Waste Depot locations between October 24 and November 8. Residents may attend any event, regardless of their usual depot location.
What to Bring
- Two current permits
- Photo identification showing your residential address
If you are unable to attend a renewal event at a Waste Depot, permits can be renewed starting November 10 at any Municipal Service Center across Chatham-Kent. While there is no formal deadline to renew, residents are encouraged to complete the renewal prior to their first visit in 2026 to ensure uninterrupted access to Waste Depots.
For a full schedule of renewal events and additional details, please refer to the Waste Depot Access Program section below.
