Chatham-Kent Council has adopted the Community Safety and Well-Being Plan (CSWB) updated for 2025–2029. The CSWB Plan is required by the Ontario government and was created with input from 350 residents and local leaders in healthcare, education, emergency services, and social services. The plan provides a framework for expanding the current work of organizations by bringing different sectors together.
What the Plan Focuses On:
- Substance Use – Reducing harm, stigma, and systemic barriers associated with substance use.
- Mental Health – Promoting positive mental well-being and improving access to support.
- Housing & Income Security – Improving access to safe, affordable housing and financial stability.
- Public Safety – Helping people feel safe in our community.
- Community Belonging – Building stronger connections between people and their communities.
- Children, Youth & Family Wellness – Investing in youth and supporting healthy family relationships.
Each area will have a team of local partners working together to create and carry out action plans. These teams will track progress, listen to community feedback, and adjust their work as needed.
Next Steps:
- The plan will be shared with the public online and in printed copies at local libraries.
- Community members will continue to be involved in shaping and improving the plan.
