Chatham-Kent is equipped with many programs and services to help residents with intellectual and physical disabilities. We are committed to upholding high standards and adopting new technology to make our neighbourhoods and communities more accessible. Beyond programs and services, many amenities and structural features are located throughout the municipality to accommodate varying levels of mobility. Some of these features including the Kingston Park splash pad and pavilions, Erieau boardwalk and viewing deck, Blenheim Gable Rees Rotary Pool, and the Children's Treatment Centre accessible playground. Local retailers and public spaces also strive to ensure their spaces are accessible. The Child and Youth Planning Network has created a community attractions and experiences list that outlines the accessibility options businesses have available for children, youth, and adults that have disabilities.
Below are some local services that are available to help those with intellectual or physical disabilities. If a service is missing that should be added, please let us know at LivingCK@Chatham-Kent.ca.
