Looking to further your education or change careers? CK has options for newcomers and residents looking to upgrade their skills and earn qualifications.

Adult Literacy and Learning Programs

The Literacy and Basic Skills Program helps improve adult literacy skills to gain secondary school credits, apprenticeships, or employment. For more information, contact one of the service providers listed below:

Ontario High School Diploma (OSSD)

If you do not have an OSSD, you can earn an equivalency certificate by taking the GED (General Education Diploma) Test. Two local school boards offer Adult Education Programs:

Language Classes and International Certifications

If you have international credentials that you want recognized in Canada, you can have them evaluated by several organizations for a fee. Visit Settlement.org for more information. The below services offer language support in Chatham-Kent:

Continuing Education

If you already hold an OSSD but would like to upgrade your skills and qualifications, there are several continuing education options available to you as well.

  • Academic and Career Entrance (ACE) program from St. Clair College prepares students to meet entrance requirements for post-secondary programs.
  • Continuing Education courses at St. Clair College are offered in Business, Health and Nursing, Information Technology, and Office Administration.
  • Contact North has an office in Wallaceburg and works to connect residents in rural Ontario with online literacy, training, and post-secondary courses and programs.
