Volunteering is a way to join and give back to community while making new friends. It can help grow your career by gaining work experiences, make work contacts, and build your professional network.

The United Way of Chatham-Kent and Gigit are great starting points to connect you to volunteer opportunities across the community. The Municipality of Chatham-Kent also has volunteer opportunities with their Committees of Council and Local Boards. You can also find volunteer opportunities at local schools, not-for-profits, and religious groups. If you know the organization or event, you want to volunteer for, contact them directly to ask how to apply for their volunteer roles.

 Volunteer roles often include:

  • Teaching, coaching, tutoring or mentoring
  • Event planning
  • Board member
  • Providing administrative assistance
  • Researching
  • Canvassing or fundraising
