Where did you grow up?
What was your first job?
Godfather's Pizza in Ridgetown.
What is your favourite Chatham-Kent pastime?
We spend a lot of time at Chatham-Kent’s arenas with our son’s hockey schedule which we enjoy both watching and participating in.
What is your favourite season?
Fall! All of the beautiful colours and the crisp cool air. Also, playoff baseball. Go Bluejays!
Name an experience that has positively motivated you.
Getting my own studio. It was a lot of hard work, and has certainly been a labour of love for myself, my husband and our family – but it has been worth every penny and minute that has been put into it. Having a beautiful, convenient, naturally lit spot to welcome my clients into, one where they can feel truly comfortable – there is really nothing better. It shows in their faces and in their body language and ultimately, in their photos.
What did you do after high school?
I attended the Flowers Canada program at the University of Guelph. I also attended numerous photography workshops and clinics across North America. I entered the workforce where I worked as a Florist for 10 years.
What are you doing now?
I am the sole Owner and Operation of Open Shutter Photography by Rebecca Kalp
Why live in Chatham-Kent?
Chatham-Kent is a great place to raise my 3 children. There are so many activities for them to learn and grow by participating in. Our kids take part in everything from hockey and baseball to horseback riding and voice lessons. I am so happy that we are able to provide them with opportunities that we may not have been able to if we didn’t live in Chatham-Kent!
