Where did you grow up?
What was your first job?
Clerk at the Video Movie Shop
What is your favourite Chatham-Kent pastime?
Going for day hikes at our local conservation areas, national wildlife areas and provincial parks.
What is your favourite season, and why?
Autumn is definitely my favourite season. I love the temperature, the colours, and the smell.
Name an experience that has positively motivated you.
My parents enrolled me in swimming lessons and martial arts at the YMCA when I was young. Both were fantastic learning experiences and both led to related jobs later in adulthood.
What did you do after high school?
I completed a 3 year Information Technology program at St. Clair College in Chatham and Windsor. After that I worked in IT for an engineering firm for several years, then at International Truck and Engine as a supervisor, the YMCA as a supervisor and trainer, and then all across Canada for the government for a short time.
What are you doing now?
I own Chad Barry Photography providing services for weddings, headshots, real estate, event coverage, nature and landscapes. I also give talks on photography at camera clubs and lead private group classes, lectures and workshops.
What is your #1 reason for choosing Chatham-Kent as "home"?
I do a lot of travelling for my wildlife and landscape photography and while I love every adventure, Chatham just feels like home. I think everyone wants to "get out" from where they are from, but if you look around you, there are lots of great opportunities waiting for action in your own community.
