After finishing college, I set out to stretch my legs and explore the great outdoors in the West, starting with the Whistler and then making my way to the Vancouver Island, which I was lucky enough to call home for a decade. As I embraced new experiences and adventures during those years, I began to think about my future. What came next?
My passion for fitness evolved into a keen interest in powerlifting, and I recognized the incredible support that community provided me. I wanted to create something that would bring people together, just as that community had helped me grow.
With a bold vision and the encouragement of my family and friends, I made my way back to Chatham-Kent. Chatham is more than just a place to live; it felt like home. With its friendly atmosphere and a burgeoning business and fitness scene, this city perfectly balances small-town charm with modern opportunities.
One of the most remarkable aspects of Chatham is its strong sense of community. Here, people genuinely lift each other up—through supporting local businesses, participating in charity events, or simply offering a helping hand. It's a place where you're not just another face in the crowd; you're part of something larger.
Chatham-Kent also provides an ideal environment for entrepreneurs. The city fosters a supportive atmosphere for small businesses, and I've experienced this firsthand through the growth of my gym, Kong Barbell.
The local community embraces new ventures, making it an exciting place to build something meaningful. While there are other gyms in the area, I drew on my 18 years of experience to create a space that offers something unique. At Kong Barbell, you can pursue a powerlifting career, explore the world of Strongman, or simply enjoy a great workout in a cozy, supportive environment.
At Kong Barbell, everyone is welcome!
