Ellen SinclairWhere did you grow up?

Chatham, ON.

What was your first job?

Corn Detasseling

What is your favourite Chatham-Kent pastime?

Spending a day with the family at my grandparents farm or spending a lazy Sunday afternoon at the beach with my boyfriend and dog.

What is your favourite season?

Spring, because everything is starting to come back to life. The birds and other animals start to come back out and I can really start enjoying the outdoors again!

Name an experience that has positively motivated you.

Becoming a member of the Chatham-Kent PEO Chapter. It has been wonderful helping run engineering camps and events for the youth around Chatham-Kent. It is something I never knew was around when I was younger and think it is a great opportunity for younger kids to get involved and see what engineering and science is all about and hopefully get more people interested in the career.

What did you do after high school?

After high school I went to the University of Detroit Mercy to study Engineering while playing softball. I did a bit of travelling after I graduated and got my Dive Masters in Honduras. After, I got an Engineering job just outside of Detroit until I was offered a job at Union Gas in Chatham.

What are you doing now?

I work as an Engineer in Training at Union Gas in the Engineering Department.

Why live in Chatham-Kent?

  • The affordable living that allow me to own a home and still be able to travel and do other things that I love.

  • The small town mentality and being able to be involved in my community.

  • My family and friends.
