Chatham-Kent is filled with holiday cheer this year, and while things may be a little non-traditional due to Covid-19, there are still so many ways to celebrate the spirit of the season! From cutting your own tree and capturing holiday photos to unique boutique shopping and new ways to "visit with Santa", there is plenty taking place across the region. Santa will be "out and about" in Chatham. Follow the Downtown Historic Chatham BIA Facebook page to see "where he is" and comment for a chance to win some great prizes from downtown merchants.
November 4 - 24, Holidays at the Barn, Crazy 8 Barn
Enjoy ready made gifts to go, free gift-wrapping and plenty of holiday decor and gifts. Open Wednesday to Saturday, 10-3.
Join outdoor artists and crafters around the town of Blenheim in this holiday version of this event. Stop in at Talbot Trail Place park between 9 and 2 for a locator map first, and then view some incredible holiday offerings. At each stop, take part in the free draw, with a food booth available at the park thanks to the Blenheim Youth Centre. Visit their Facebook page for up to date details and information.
Downtown Chatham merchants are staying open later so you can shop for unique Christmas gifts for everyone on your list this year.
November 13, 6-9, Ridgetown Farmer's Market "Holiday Sale"
Vendors join together to offer a "Black Friday" edition of the Farmers' Market with Christmas sales and unique items.
November 16-January 9, Tilbury Lions Christmas Light Festival
Take a drive through the town of Tilbury and view spectacular trees decorated and lit for the holiday season.
November 21, 10am, CK Holiday Pop Up
Get into the holiday spirit with local artisans and businesses offering handmade apparel, jewellery, glasses, home decore and more. The event takes place at Ten-Seven Cafe and Lounge in Chatham.
November 21-December 20, Sloan's Christmas Village
This year up to 8 people in a social bubble can gather around a campfire and take part in general admission activities at "Village 1." General admission activities include mini train ride, pony rides (weekends only), petting zoo, family portrait tree, family obstacle course and more. Food and beverages are available for purchase at the chip wagon, along with specialty tinsmith products, crafts and other decorations. Pre-booking a time is required this year, Hours are 9-4:30. For admission rates and details visit their website where you can also book any activity as well. This year there are no horse/wagon rides, candle-making, crafts or cookie decorating.
November 26, 5-9, Downtown Wallaceburg Holiday Market
Join businesses in the downtown core for special holiday offers, festive decorations and an outdoor vendor event.
Join Santa outside of the DCC as he will be waving hello to all who can make it out to see him! New toys will be collected along with donations for charity.
December 1 - 25, Wallaceburg's 2020 Christmas Lights Tour
A unique celebration of Christmas lights and decorations around Wallaceburg. Follow the map, and drive around on your own to enjoy!
December 12, 5-8, Tilbury's Drive by Santa Claus Parade
Enjoy a "reverse" Santa Claus Parade, where the floats don't move, you do! Hosted by the Tilbury Auto Mall, spectators drive in their car by and view the spectacular floats.
Three light shows will take place in a drive-in style event. Shows will take place at 5:30, 7:30 and 9:30, with room for 68 vehicles to park and see the show. This year, holiday projections will also include a live portion in each show with Santa and his elves. Pre-registration (beginning November 16) is required with donations to help the homeless at the time of registration encouraged.
Christmas Trees - "U-cut"
Blacksmith and Tin - Visit the Christmas Tree Farm and Christmas store, Saturdays and Sundays from 10-4, November 28 to December 20. Watch for updates on their Facebook page or shop their unique Christmas decor and more on their Etsy page.
Puddleford's Tree Farm - Cut your own Christmas Tree on this family owned and operated farm located 20 minutes east of Chatham on Scane Road. This year open weekends 10-4:30, November 21 to December 20 (no appointment), Friday and Monday by appointment only. All trees are $55 (hst included).
Sloan's Christmas Village - Cut your own tree at "Village 1", November 21-December 23, where you'll find a huge selection of trees. Christmas tree vouchers are available in advance online for $60. Pre-booking is not required for trees only. If you would like a campfire with your tree, pre-booking is required. Maximum 8 people per campfire, light your own. Pre-cut trees and wreathes can be found at their main office location Monday to Friday, 9-4.
Watson Christmas Trees - Visit the Christmas Tree Farm, located just 5km west of Chatham in a peaceful setting along the Thames River. All trees are $50, any size, with shake and bail offered, saws and trolleys supplied. Operating hours are daily, November 15 to December 24 until dawn til dusk. Hot apple cider is not available this year.
