TJ Stables

There's nothing quite like an afternoon connecting with nature while riding on the back of a horse. In Chatham-Kent you can do just that by taking advantage of one hour long guided trail rides along the 17 acres of groomed woodland trails at TJ Stables. You don't even have to have had previous riding experience, as long as you're over the age of eight. Lessons are also available for a variety of ages. Another options for horse lovers of all ages is a family tour, which include pony rides, and a petting farm visit with a tour, including a stop at the hen house.

Your visit to TJ Stables, however, would not be complete without an encounter with their rare and endangered Anishinabek Ojibway Spirit Horses. These beautiful creatures and their story will have you in awe as you learn about this small horse that once lived freely in the boreal forest and worked as a service animal. These beautiful creatures are considered a spirit animal, for the Indigenous People of Ontario and Minnesota. Today, only about 120 Ojibway horses are still in existence, after declining to a mere four in 1977 when their survival was in jeopardy.

TJ Stables is an award winning, recreational and fully accessible equine facility located in Chatham. Providing both fun and educational opportunities to get up close and personal with their horses, the staff at TJ Stables will make you feel comfortable the minute you set foot on the farm.
