Online Application for Library Card Renewal

If your Chatham-Kent Public Library card has expired, you may be eligible to renew your card online by switching from a full membership to a virtual library card.

A CKPL virtual card is for borrowing virtual (online, electronic) materials only. If you would like to borrow physical materials (e.g. books, DVDs etc.), please visit any CKPL branch with an acceptable form of identification and your library card to renew your account. See Membership Information for more details.

A CKPL virtual account will be active for 2 years. With this card, you will have access to CKPL's virtual resources including Overdrive, Hoopla, Kanopy and PressReader.

  1. If you have any fines on your card, these will need to be paid before renewal can take place. Fines of $5 or more can be paid online. See Using the Library for more information.
  2. Online applications will be sent to the Circulation Services Librarian or designate. Once received, your account will be updated based on the information provided in your application.
  3. Online renewal applications will be processed within 3 business days. Once processed, applicants will receive an email with more information about their card renewal.
