​​​​How-To Festival

CKPL is celebrating Ontario Public Library Week by hosting a How-To Festival. For 2025, Ontario Public Library Week will take place from October 19 to October 25, and the theme is “Libraries for Life.” 

Interested community members can reserve How-To themed 'grab and go' kits or attend in-person How-To programs. Registration for ‘grab and go’ How-To kits will open on October 6. Kits will be available for pickup at any CKPL branch starting on October 20. 

Available 'grab and go' kits:

  • Make a DIY Beeswax Wrap
  • Make a Puzzle Mosaic
  • Make a Wood Slice Ornament
  • Make a Rainbow Cloud Wall Hanging
  • Make Candy Sushi
  • Make a Tissue Paper Painting (kids kit)
  • Make an Ugly Christmas Sweater Ornament (kids kit)

​Health and Well-Being: Digestion An Information Session

Monday, October 27 at 6:00 pm

CKPL welcomes local nutrition consultant and retired pharmacist, Carmel Marentette, for a presentation on ways to improve general health and well-being by focusing on digestive health. By understanding the intricacies of the digestive system, individuals can take proactive steps toward better health. Free event. No registration required. 


Café Capers-Chatham Branch

Join us Wednesday mornings for a different caper each week.  Some activities will be challenging, others will get you crafting and still others will be relaxing and fun.

October 15 - Create & Decorate for Halloween

October 22 - Halloween Craft

October 29 - The Very Busy Children's Room!​

Registration is not required.  Simply drop by the Library Café on Wednesday mornings from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.  While in the café, you can also treat yourself to a hot or cold drink and a tasty snack if you like!


Make a Will Month: An Information Session

Monday, November 17 at 6:00 pm

Join us to celebrate November as "Make A Will" Month by attending a free legal information workshop presented by lawyer Brad Langford in partnership with the Ontario Bar Association. Learn the significance of having a will, the value of estate planning and the importance of Powers of Attorney. Registration not required.


Mahjong Club

Chatham Branch
Mondays, 3:00 pm

Come and play the ancient Chinese game of Mahjong. Our in-person Mahjong Club takes place in the first floor Cafe area. This is a free, drop-in program.
