Hidden Gems all Summer Long at Chatham-Kent Public Library

Starting June 22 visit any Chatham-Kent Public Library (CKPL) branch and borrow items for your chance to win an amazing Hidden Gems prize pack. Each prize pack features a gift certificate from a local hidden gem from your community!

Get started by picking up an Adult Summer Reading punch card at any of the CKPL's 11 branches. After 3 check outs your punch card becomes a ballot to win a Hidden Gems prize pack. This contest is for ages 16+ and will run until August 31. Find a Hidden Gem bookmark as part of your check out and receive an extra punch on your punch card.

Virtual user? You can participate in the Adult Summer Reading contest too! Visit letstalkchatham-kent to fill out a survey for an opportunity to win this summer!

Learn to Play Chinese Mahjong

Chatham-Kent Public Library (CKPL) is offering a free four-week Learn to Play Chinese Mahjong program for adults in the Chatham Branch Meeting Room.

Saturday May 4, June 1, 15 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm

Mahjong is a fun and challenging game. With the help of our knowledgeable instructor, you'll be playing like a pro in no time. Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity to learn a new skill and meet new people in the process!

Space is limited. Attendance at all four sessions is recommended.


Spice Club

This is a free monthly program that will promise to add a bit of SPICE to your life! Each month, those registered will receive a Spice Club kit that includes: 

  • information about and the history of each spice 
  • two recipes to try 
  • sample of the spice to use in the recipes. 

Spice Club members are invited to try the recipes at home, and on the last Tuesday of each month, we will meet virtually on Zoom to discuss the history and uses of each spice and share how we enjoyed cooking with the spice. Space for this program is limited and registration is required. Mahjong Club

Come and play the ancient Chinese game of Mahjong at the Chatham branch. Our in-person Mahjong Club takes place every Monday afternoon at 3:00 PM in the first floor meeting room or Cafe area ( if the meeting room booked for other events). This is a free, drop-in program.


Adult Colouring

Are you looking for a creative outlet? Need some time to escape the everyday? All supplies provided. Come alone or bring a friend. Drop-in. Open to all ages and all skill levels.

Chess Club

Are you new to chess or a chess master? If you'd like to test your strategies or learn some new skills, feel free to drop in any Tuesday or Thursday night. Open to all ages and skill levels. Bring your own board or borrow one from the library. Registration is not required for this free program.

Wallaceburg Branch every Tuesday 5:45 pm to 7:45 pm.

Ridgetown Branch every Thursday 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Chatham Branch every Tuesday 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.


Knitting and Crochet Club

Do you like to knit or crochet? Join us to trade patterns, give suggestions or learn a new skill. Drop-in. 

Wallaceburg Branch every Tuesday 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm.

Movies @ CKPL

Watch a movie with us at the Chatham Branch. Movie time is 2:00 pm. Check our Program Calendar for Tuesday movie showings.


Trivia Night

Join us every Wednesday for virtual Trivia Night! Each week we'll post a new Trivia Night game on CKPL's Facebook page. The game will be available from 6:00 pm until midnight. To play, click the link in our Facebook or Twitter post, choose a nickname and enter the game. Don't forget to check back the next day to see how everyone scored!
