Chatham-Kent Public Library is helping residents create healthier homes with the launch of a new radon detector collection.
Beginning October 13, adult library cardholders can borrow a radon detector free of charge to test radon levels in their homes. Detectors may be borrowed for 35 days and should remain in the home for a minimum of 30 consecutive days to ensure accurate reading.
Radon detector kits will be available to borrow from October 1 through March 31, the recommended testing season when homes are typically more sealed against outdoor air, allowing for more reliable results.
By providing access to radon detectors, the library aims to make home radon testing more accessible and affordable for Chatham-Kent residents.
