Spring in CK

Are you looking for springtime activities in CK? Look no further!

Spring a great time of year to venture out and explore all that Chatham-Kent has to offer. It's the time of year when flowers begin to bloom, trails open up, and mud puddles are calling for kids to jump in!

Birding in CK is known to be some of the best available in Ontario. Each spring, thousands of birds pass through the area and there are many great spots to see both rare and common species. Rondeau Provincial Park offers nearly 8 thousand acres of lush Carolinian forest vegetation and some 360 different species while the 600 acres at Wheatley Provincial Park feel almost tropical in nature with its wetlands and species. Don't forget about the Blenheim Lagoons or the St. Clair National Wildlife Centre, where you'll be amazed by the natural world around you. Starting May 1, your day use visits to these Ontario Provincial Parks are free Monday through Thursday until September 2, 2021. You will require a park permit Friday through Sunday.

After you grab your binoculars and hit our many walking trails or cycling paths, stop at your favourite bakery or café and grab a delicious beverage or snack. We've got great suggestions on our bakery trail to keep you full on your adventure.

A spring picnic is always a great way for your family or social bubble to get out and enjoy the outdoors. We've got so many great places to picnic in CK. You can choose to pack your picnic from home or why not stop in at one our many great local restaurants and choose take-out for your picnic and support local?

Spring also means a chance to visit local boutiques as they bring in new items. Along the way, stop in at a patio as they start to open. Check out our list of patios in CK to choose from no matter where you're exploring.

Because Chatham-Kent has a warmer climates in the spring than many other places in Ontario, it's not surprising to see people golfing in March or April. Not all golf courses in CK open that early, so be sure to call ahead to book your tee time first!

It's also time to switch from an ice auger in your fishing kit to sunscreen. Fishing in the spring is a great time to hit the many bodies of water CK has to offer, whether you head out using one of our many charter services, or choose to go out on your own to one of our many popular fishing spots

Why not extend your stay and take advantage of one of our many hotels or bed and breakfast locations?
