Covid-19 Notice: This service is temporarily unavailable and remains closed. Stay tuned for details on re-opening.

The Kent Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society , located within the Chatham branch of the CK Public Library offers online archives for searching family roots. Whether you are from Chatham-Kent originally and want to trace your ancestors, or are from afar and have roots here, the Kent Branch of the OGS will help you to uncover them.

You can easily access online archives to trace your family roots, and discover more than you ever expected about long lost family and loved ones. This service is available to all, whether you are visiting or a resident. Many people have discovered long lost relatives and ancestors in Chatham-Kent and have gone on to visit spots with family history or connections.

Take a trip to the places where your family's roots first started to sprout, beginning with a stop at the Kent Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society. Then, take what could be an emotional journey to burial sites, former homes and favourite places uncovered in the family search.

The Kent Branch OGS is located within the Chatham-Kent Public Library on Queen Street in Chatham, on the second floor and is open from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm Wednesdays through Saturdays, subject to volunteer availability. The library has extensive holdings and is equipped with a copier and scan to email or USB. The Kent Branch has an excellent research library with open shelves so the public can do their own research. There is no fee to use the library but donations are welcomed and encouraged.
