Local Business Goes Digital Thanks to Small Business Centre Program

Long before smart phones, the personal computer, and the Internet became engrained in our lives, traditional media including print guided the world. In 1978, a small start-up called The Instant Print Shoppe opened their doors in Chatham to provide local print services to residents and businesses across the region. A lot has changed in the past 43 years and the business, now known as Instant Print and Promo, has been keeping one-step ahead by finding ways to offer new products and services in anticipation of demand.

Most recently, Instant Print and Promo has taken advantage of the Chatham-Kent Small Business Centre Digital Service Squad and the Digital Main Street program to help develop and launch their new website, featuring the ability to order products online.

"Instant Print and Promo has been working extremely hard over the year to ramp up our online presence in order to meet the needs of customers, especially small businesses," said Dave Dawson, Owner of Instant Print and Promo. "We live in a 24/7 world and a lot of our business customers are contacting us for help in the evening when they have time. The online ordering means they can work on their schedule, which helps to ease their stress."

The website, www.ipap.ca, launched in December 2020, with live pricing for several popular products including cheques, envelopes, and brochures.

"We are adding more products for live pricing over the next few weeks with the goal of making things as streamlined as possible," said Dawson. "We are also offering a personalized ordering experience… as you order your own custom products, those items will be available under your own personal 'portal' for easy re-ordering in the future."

Dawson added, "Digital Main Street was very helpful in getting this going. Not just the grant, but also the training and the support. It has accelerated our plans and made it possible to bring an even better online solution to Chatham-Kent."

For those who prefer the more traditional method of ordering, the team at Instant Print and Promo welcomes you to contact them directly.

"We will continue to be available by phone and email," said Dawson. "During this time of COVID, we do ask people to limit coming into the store and hope they can call us if they have questions. We are an essential service, but we also want to keep our customers and staff healthy, which is why we are offering curbside pickup and touch-free payment options."
