Cause: Accidental

Comments on cause: Station 15 and Station 16 responded to a two-story residential structure fire just after 1am Sunday morning. When fire crews arrived, the home was fully involved with flames visible from first and second floor windows. Crews worked to contain the fire from spreading to a nearby garage and vehicles. Heavy equipment was eventually brought in to assist with the collapsing brick structure. All occupants who were home at the time of the fire were able to exit safely. CKFR is reminding residents it is safest to use flameless candles. If real candles are lit, blow them out when you leave the room or go to sleep. Use well ventilated candle holders that are sturdy and will not tip over. Damage is estimated at $350,000.00 Cause: Accidental – Unattended Candle
