Comments on incident/response: At approximately 3:06 a.m. this morning, Chatham-Kent Fire & Rescue (CKFR) responded to multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting a house fire at 61 Ebenezer Street West in Ridgetown. Callers reported visible flames and heavy smoke coming from the front of the residence. Firefighters from Station 11 – Ridgetown and Station 10 – Orford were dispatched. Upon arrival, crews found the home fully involved, with fire rapidly spreading throughout the structure. Due to the intensity of the fire, firefighters initiated defensive operations and worked to protect neighbouring properties. A precautionary evacuation was completed for the home adjacent to the fire. CKFR was supported on scene by Chatham-Kent EMS, Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS), Entegrus, and Enbridge Gas. The fire was brought under control following an extended suppression effort, and firefighters remain on scene extinguishing hot spots. The home sustained severe damage. Damages are estimated at $500,000. No Injuries. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by CKPS
