Cause: Under Investigation
Comments on incident/response: Stations #1 & #2 – Chatham were dispatched to a fire alarm call at CK Secondary School just before 2pm this afternoon. A follow up call was received from the school reporting that there was a fire in a 2nd floor bathroom and the school was evacuating. Upon arrival crews found a fire in the bathroom and significant smoke in the corridors. School staff were able to confirm the building was clear. The crew quickly extinguished the fire and began to clear the smoke from the corridors and building. A search was completed to ensure there was nobody trapped in the smoke.
"The swift actions of the staff to evacuate the building and follow up with additional information allowed us to make an effective attack on the fire," explains Fire Chief Chris Case.
Pumper 1, Ladder 2, Command 1, CK3 and CK1 were all on scene. CK Fire Investigators were also on scene to investigate the fire which left slight fire damage to the bathroom and smoke damage to the 2nd floor of the main building.
