DETOUR - Impacting Downtown Chatham - Effective July 12th until November

Service on multiple transit routes will be impacted by phased closures in Downtown Chatham to accommodate the Downtown Chatham Street Light Pole Replacement Project. Transit stops will not be serviced during lane closures as they occur.

  • Beginning Monday, July 12th the westbound lane on King Street (between William and Fifth Street) will be closed. Route 5 will not be able to access stop #5143. This stop closure is expected to last until Friday, July 23rd;
  • Beginning Monday, July 26th crews are expected to begin work along the eastbound lane on King Street (between William and Fifth Street). Route 5 will resume service along the westbound lane as long as the lane is open to traffic;
  • Beginning Monday, September 13th both northbound and southbound directions on Fifth Street, between King Street and Wellington, will be reduced to a single lane each. Service to bus stops #2057 and #5102 will not be available. These restrictions are expected to last until September 24th.
  • Beginning Wednesday, November 10th the westbound lane of King Street, between Fourth Street and Third Street, will be closed. Stop #2002 will not be available when closures are in effect. Route 2 will detour down Wellington Street and around the Civic Centre in order to service stop #1060. This work is expected to last until Friday, November 19th.
  • Beginning Monday, November 22nd the westbound lane of King Street West, between Fourth Street and Fifth Street, will be closed. All stops will continue to be serviced but expect some delay to Route 2 as it detours from Wellington Street to Fourth Street. Work will take place between 7:00 am to 5:00 pm until Tuesday, November 30th.

This project will take place in multiple phases along King Street West (Third Street to William Street), Fifth Street (King Street West to Wellington Street West), and Fourth Street (King Street West to Wellington Street West).

Additional notifications and bus stop impacts will be communicated on this page for each phase.
