Don’t miss your chance to be in the 2019 Annual Juried Exhibition at the Thames Art Gallery. Looking for submissions in all media. Open to artists living and working in Ontario. A maximum of two recent original artworks completed within 2017-2019 may be submitted by each artist. Work previously exhibited at TAG or created under instruction is not eligible. Professional artists only. A non-refundable handling fee of $35.00 must accompany the entry form. This year’s juror is Mathew Ryan Smith. A Juror’s Choice Award of $1000 will be presented to the selected artist at the opening reception October 25, 2019. Submission deadline is August 30, 2019.

Matthew Ryan Smith is the Curator of the Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brant in Brantford, Ontario. He is also a writer and Sessional Professor of indigenous art at the University of Toronto, Mississauga. He is the literary editor of First American Art Magazine and the Canadian section editor of the forthcoming Art Market Dictionary. Matthew also sits on the editorial board of the Moving Image Science Research Group at Kiel University, Germany. In 2012, he earned his Ph.D. in Art and Visual Culture at Western University. Matthew has published extensively on art and visual culture in publications including Canadian Art, Border Crossings, Prefix Photo, ESSE Arts + Opinions, Briarpatch, Blackflash, C Magazine, Alternatives Journal, First American Art, Artinfo Canada, Magenta, ArtUS, Contemporary Canadian Glass, Visual Arts News, and FUSE.
Jurying will be a two stage process. Preliminary jurying will be conducted through electronic submissions. Selected artists will be notified by email to deliver artwork to the Thames Art Gallery for final selection.

Video /documentation of a performance / GIFS / other: Please do not exceed one minute viewing time (JPEG, GIF, MP4 and Vimeo links are accepted formats, please indicate start and stop times (ex. 2:15 – 3:15))
Artist statements should not exceed 200 words, and be sent as PDFs or DOCs
HOW TO SUBMIT
Please upload entry form, artist statement and artwork to www.wetransfer.com and submit by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include tag line “TAGjuried_firstname_lastname” on files.
All works must be ready for display and clearly labelled with the name of artist and title of work. Two-dimensional work must be suitably framed and wired; any required hanging hardware must be included. Works requiring special installation must have written instructions.
TRANSPORTATION AND INSURANCE
All shipping arrangements and costs are the responsibility of the submitting artist. The Thames Art Gallery will not accept any collect shipments. The Thames Art Gallery will not be responsible for insuring the works while in transit. All works will be insured by the Thames Art Gallery while on the premises.
ARTIST FEES AND AWARDS
The applicable CARFAC group show fee will be paid to each selected artist.
A Juror’s Choice Award in the sum of $1000.00 will be presented to the selected artist at the opening reception.

Notification by phone or email of short list for jurying (juror will review electronic files in first round of jurying and cut down the selection). Works on this list to be delivered to the gallery no later than Monday, September 30, 2019.
Notification by phone or email of works not accepted for jurying short list.
Final jurying with Matthew Ryan Smith in person.
Notify artists with accepted works for exhibition.
Notify declined works.
Work not accepted for the exhibition must be picked up/shipped from the gallery on or before this date.
Exhibition opens at the Thames Art Gallery, reception and awards presentation to take place 7-9PM.
