2019/20 School Programs at Chatham Cultural Centre

The Chatham Cultural Centre is an exciting place to discover, learn and laugh. 

We provide a variety of engaging programs in art, history, and drama put forward by the Thames Art Gallery, Chatham-Kent Museum, Kiwanis Theatre, Capitol Theatre, Milner Heritage House, and Ridge House Museum.

All field trip programs meet current curriculum guidelines to complement and enhance school programs.

Let us help you plan and create a day of cultural education and creative play for your students. Each program can be geared toward any age group. 

  • $30 per Student Full Day Program - Pick 2 Programs*
  • $15 per Student Half Day Program - Pick 1 Program*
  • $5 per Student Add One Hour of Free Play in the Imagination Station at CK Museum
  • $5 per Student Add One Hour - Tour and Free Play in the Discovery Den at Ridge House Museum
  • $55 Flat Rate - One Hour of Stories and Artifacts in your classroom

Art Maniacs School Program

Art Investigators: What do you see?


Take a fun approach to looking at art, be curious and explore through creative play! Enjoy guided explorations of drawing, painting, printing and sculpture at our art making stations.

Art Discoverers: What's art got to do with me?


If you’ve never been to a gallery before, or if you find art confusing, annoying or difficult, this workshop is for you! Get the tools to decode art and to find connections between art, your own life and the world around us. Choose to create a painting or clay mask.

Muddy Buddies School Program

Clay: Muddy Buddies

Roll up your sleeves and grab a fistful of clay! Squash it, roll it and score it! Learn a few hand-building techniques to create a clay animal, clay mask, clay rain-stick or clay portrait bust.

Printmaking: Double Trouble School Program

Printmaking: Double Trouble

Press print? Not so fast. Explore the art of handmade print. Draw your design onto soft lino block, then carve it out to create a stamp. Roll on ink and print, hey presto! This process based workshop is sure to please intermediate and senior students.

Painting School Program



Watercolour: Let the water do the work! Learn how to paint using wet into wet techniques, salting and resist.
Acrylic: Learn simple techniques like blocking, washing, underpainting and layering.

Black Light Up Your Life School Program

Black Light up Your Life


Electrify your reality and change how you see the world in this immersive and magical theatre experience. Students will apply movement and art making techniques to a stage design that will be illuminated by black light, and will work with workshop leaders to help shape the content of their collaborative performance. Get ready to move, get ready to create, and get ready to illuminate your view of the world.

Arts and Culture


Explore how ancient civilization cultures impacted each other over thousands of years and how we are still influenced by them today through interactive storytelling, reproduction artifacts, and lots of fun! Within a few weeks, await the delivery of your clay treasure (via your teacher).

Hands On History School Program

Hands On History

Touch history and hear stories of the past as we discover artifacts, games, and toys from the Victorian era.

Chatham-Kent is always transforming, influenced by many groups of people who have called it home from its first inhabitants to present day. Take a look at historic photos and artifacts and then choose a walking route for a guided tour where history will come alive with stories of Chatham-Kent's past.

All aboard! Let us customize our Imagination Station to bring STEAM learning to life. Experience hands-on activities, crafts, and lots more as you roll through activity stations and then engage in free play.

WWI Education Week: The First Battalion

War has been declared and Chatham-Kent aims to be one of the first places in Canada to send one hundred men to Europe. Everyone will be given an identity of a Chatham-Kent soldier who enlisted and became part of The 1st Battalion. Follow their travels, training, triumphs, and sacrifices through the Great War while using primary sources of these brave locals. Lest We Forget.
