When will the May 1, 2020 tax instalment be due?

The May property tax instalment due date has now been extended to July 10, 2020.

When will the August 4, 2020 tax instalment be due?

The August property tax instalment due date has now been extended to September 11, 2020.

Will I have to pay interest charges?

No interest charges will be applied on property tax accounts for current year taxes from April through until July 10, 2020.  Interest charges will still be applied on prior year taxes.

What happens if I have property taxes owing prior to the 2020 taxation year?

Arrears notices will be generated each month after the interest charge has been applied for previous year's taxes.

What does this mean for properties currently on a montly pre-authorized payment plan for property taxes?

Withdrawals scheduled to occur on the 15th of each month will carry on as normal unless the owner submits a cancellation request.  Pre-Authorized Payment Cancellation Form  Please use Internet Explorer web browser for this form.  You will be required to complete a new pre-authorized payment agreement form to be reinstated in this program.

If I cancel my monthly pre-authorized payment plan, how will it impact my future monthly withdrawals when I sign up again later in 2020?

Any past due amounts in 2020 will be factored into the recalculation for the monthly amount to be withdrawn, taxes are being deferred not reduced and in most cases, this will result in a higher monthly withdrawal amount than normal for the remainder of the 2020 year.

The cheques will be deposited on the date indicated on the cheque unless otherwise informed by the payee.

What if I have an outstanding invoice with the Municipality of Chatham-Kent?

No penalty will be charged on past due Account Receivable items until after June 30, 2020.  Statements will still be issued but with no finance fee.

I have a community improvement loan what can I do?

CIP loan withdrawals can be deferred upon the request of the loan payee for the months of May and June.  Requests must be received 10 days prior to the date of the scheduled payment.

Will payments which have been returned by my bank due to non-sufficient funds be subject to any adminstration fees by the Municipality of Chatham-Kent?

The standard administration fee of $38.00 for returned payments will be waived for the period of April 1, 2020 to July 10, 2020.
