This project will start the first phase of road reconstruction to be completed at Maple Leaf Cemetery. Engineering Services is also planning for additional phases in Maple Leaf and other active municipal cemeteries over the next few years.

The work which includes additional drainage and new asphalt is expected to occur over a 4-week period, depending on weather conditions and site access. Interments taking place in the work areas will continue to be accessible, with the contractor ceasing work when funerals are on site. At no time will any individual graves be at risk when road excavation is underway.

Some roads may be blocked off during working hours while the contractor is on site. In particular, vehicle access via the north bridge and the western Ward A/B access point on Maple Leaf Drive will be limited. When vehicle access is periodically closed to roads within the work area, access by foot may be possible for visitors. Signage and barriers will be present at all times to alert visitors of ongoing closures.

Please obey all signs and barriers to ensure the safety of work crews. For additional information, contact the Cemetery Office at 519.360.1998. This is an image of a road closure sign
