WalkCK

WalkCK is a new non-profit organization in Chatham-Kent, Ontario with the goal to introduce, educate, and celebrate the diverse habitats while taking time to enjoy walking outdoors in the fresh air in the natural environments offered in our community.

WalkCK regularly hosts monthly hikes from early spring to late fall. Hikes are free to attend, and no registration is required. People of all ages to WalkCK events.

Walking Club

Bring your walking routine indoors. A Walking Pass is required for all Walking Club programs. Pick up your Walking Pass at your local Municipal Centre or at the CKRecreation office at the Park Avenue Business Centre, located at 25 Creek Road in Chatham.

Step Up! Walking Programs

Join the Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres for a free walking group. Enjoy a 30-40 minute walk followed by a light snack and 20 minute information session on walking topics.

Urban Poling

If you enjoy walking but are looking for a little extra, or are experiencing knee, hip, or low back pain, then Urban Poling is for you. These poles are very simple to use, and by simply walking with them you will reduce the impact on your joints, improve posture and balance, as well as activate 90% of your muscles in the process. 

Urban poles are available to members anytime by stopping by the front desk with instruction provided by trained staff any time you need it! Visit the Urban Poling site for more information. Suitable for all ages and activity levels.

There is also an opportunity to walk on the indoor track that is located around the gyms.

Mall Walkers

The Downtown Chatham Centre Mall Walker program is a friendly community of people looking to regain or maintain an active lifestyle in a safe, indoor environment. Membership is free! Participants wanting to join the Mall Walkers are requested to sign a release waiver at the Mall Walkers Club House on the upper level.

Remember to keep an exercise diary to log your distances as the mall walker program has incentives for trekking inside the mall.
