Lessons are taught through progressive evaluation using the Red Cross Swim program providing safe, enjoyable aquatic programs for swimmers of all ages.

  • Group Lessons - up to 10 participants per class

  • Private Lessons - individual instruction

  • H2O Lessons - maximum 2 participants per class (available Spring and Fall sessions)

  • Leadership Courses - Become a Lifeguard or Swim Instructor

  • Specialty Courses - Competitive swimming and training courses

Specialty Courses

Fundamentals and Power Swimming Course

Two programs in one! Tailored to your individual needs and goals, you’ll learn skills such as starts, turns, and underwater swimming to maintain a streamlined position necessary for competitive swimming.

Plus, you’ll focus on improving stroke mechanics, maximizing efficiency, and building your endurance. You’ll work on front crawl, back crawl, and breast stroke, as well as learn the basics of the butterfly.


Fundamentals of Competitive Swimming.

Looking to prepare for swim team, or see if you’re ready? Young swimmers considering entering the exciting world of competitive swimming will learn skills such as starts, turns, underwater swimming with effective breathing, playing games to increase endurance, and have fun! Available at the Blenheim Gable Rees Rotary Pool and Wallaceburg Sydenham Pool.


Power Swimming / Stroke Improvement

Oriented towards swimmers in levels 6-10 and beyond, this is an ideal program if you are waiting to take your lifeguarding courses, for personal fitness or if you’re struggling with endurance during swimming lessons. Available at the Blenheim Gable Rees Rotary Pool and Wallaceburg Sydenham Pool.

There are three ways to register for swimming lessons:

  3. Visit your local municipal centre to register in person.

  4. For evenings and weekends, call the Blenheim Gable Rees Rotary Pool at 519.676.4544.

Progress Reports

We're excited to be launching online Progress Reports using Swimgen, where you can view your child’s swimming lessons reports from any device with internet access.

What age should my child be when starting swimming lessons?

You can introduce your child to the water at any age to make them feel more comfortable in the water. The Red Cross Swim Preschool begins with three levels, Starfish (4-12 months), Duck (12-24 months), and Sea Turtle (24-36 months).

What level should my child be in?

There are a few options to assist you in finding the right level:

  • Check a previous report card for the instructor’s recommendation.

  • Take the free assessment!

  • Review the lesson descriptions.

  • Speak with our staff - we're always available for assistance.
