Warming Shelters Available in Chatham-Kent

2021-2022 Winter Warming Centre Plans

On any given night there are upwards of 75 households in emergency housing in CK and several more waiting for a bed to become available. With the cold weather here, Employment & Social Services is relieved to announce that Hope Haven will offer its services as a warming center in Chatham-Kent for another winter.

In the event that Dr. Colby, Chatham-Kent’s Chief medical officer of Health declares an Extreme Cold Weather event, the Municipality will post a media advisory and Hope Haven will extend their hours to 24/7 during the event.

Hope Haven is located at 183 Wellington St. West, Chatham

Transportation can be arranged for those that are outside of the downtown core, including areas outside of those listed by contacting the Homeless Response Line at 519-354-6228. Staff will work with ROCK missions to coordinate transportation to emergency housing if available and if not, to a warming centre.

Warming centre locations were decided by where partners had the capacity to offer these services.

The Municipality would like to remind those in need that the following organizations remain open throughout the winter and those that need to escape the elements can attend during business hours.

  • Hope Haven - 183 Wellington St W, Chatham, 10 am - 2 pm, 7 days a week
