Employment Resource Centres previously located at 240 King Street Chatham and 786 Dufferin Avenue Wallaceburg (2nd Floor Wallaceburg Municipal Centre) have moved and are now offered at the Chatham-Kent Public Library – Chatham and Wallaceburg branches through the Community Navigator Program.
Community Navigators with Employment and Social Services will be onsite at the Chatham branch, 2nd floor, 120 Queen Street, Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm and at the Wallaceburg branch, 209 James Street, Monday to Friday as follows:
- Monday/Wednesday/Friday 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
- Tuesday/Thursday 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Library hours may change due to holiday schedules.
Walk-in service is available at both the Chatham and Wallaceburg branches including the use of computers for job searching along with free resume printing.
By appointment, Community Navigators can support patrons with other services including:
- Create, edit, copy and proofread resumes
- The development of a cover letter
- Complete online job applications
- Interview information and preparation support
- Assistance with research on potential employers
- Finding and understanding Labour Market information
- One to one instruction in accessing government, social and health services online
Referrals to other social services, employment and educational programs in the community
Assist patrons with completing applications for government programs and benefits
Completing personal income tax returns for qualifying low-income residents
Deliver workshops and clinics including the Rent Smart program and I.D. clinics
Provide computers to qualifying low-income youth, families and eligible charitable and non-profit organizations via the Computer Connects program

The Community Navigator program is a partnership between Employment and Social Services (ESS) and the Chatham Kent Public Library (CKPL). Working together, CKPL and ESS are able to bring these services to all residents of Chatham-Kent across all 11 library locations.
