Provincial Vaccination Rules Take Effect September 22

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent would like to remind everyone that as of September 22, 2021 people in Ontario will need to provide proof of vaccination to access certain businesses and settings.

This was announced by the Government of Ontario on September 1, 2021, in an effort to help further protect Ontarians from COVID-19 and the Delta variant.  Specified businesses and organizations are responsible for ensuring they meet the requirements regarding requiring patrons to provide proof of identification and proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (or entitlement to an exemption) as outlined in the Provincial Regulations.

A number of Provincial offences officers are designated to have the authority to enforce all orders under the legislation. Provincial offences officers include CK Public Health, Chatham-Kent By-Law Enforcement and Chatham-Kent Police Services and regulatory officers from several Provincial ministries and agencies.

These officers will work together to ensure the health and safety of businesses and the enforcement of the proof of vaccine requirements will be a graduated approach with emphasis on education, promotion, and localized compliance and enforcement as required.

Chatham-Kent citizens who have concerns about businesses or patrons not following vaccine passport legislation can report concerns via phone or email for investigation.
