Connecting Link Funding for Dufferin Avenue, Community of Wallaceburg

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is proud to announce that an application to the Ministry of Transportation for the Rehabilitation of Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg under the Connecting Links Funding Program was successful. The Connecting Links Funding will provide the Municipality with $3 million dollars to go toward eligible road reconstruction costs.

Through the Connecting Links Program, funding will be provided to eligible municipalities for up to 90% of eligible project costs, up to a maximum of $3 million for road projects. In response to municipal feedback, starting in 2021-22, the province is permanently raising the maximum amount of available funding for bridge projects from $3 million to $5 million to reflect the higher costs of maintaining and repairing bridges compared to roads.

The Municipality has been successful in obtaining funding through this program for various projects including the Reconstruction of McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg (2016), Rehabilitation of the Lord Selkirk Bridge in Wallaceburg (2018) and the Reconstruction of Grand Ave East in Chatham (2020).
