MORE CK PEOPLE NEED TO BE HEARD
It is important for CK residents to have their voices heard and to have a say in important issues that affect your community and quality of life. In the 2014 municipal election, 42.1% of CK residents voted; voter turnout increased 2.1% from 2010 to 2014.
PEOPLE ARE SATISFIED WITH LIFE
Since 2012, CK residents 12 years and older consistently reported that they are satisfied or very satisfied with life. Life satisfaction was rated higher in CK (93%) when compared to the Ontario rate of 91% in 2014.
STRONG SENSE OF COMMUNITY BELONGING
In 2014, 66% of CK residents 12 years and older reported a somewhat strong or very strong sense of belonging to their local community which is lower than the provincial rate of 68%. Since 2011, CK residents reported a somewhat strong or very strong sense of belonging to their local community ranged from 66% to 76% annually.
CK CONTINUES TO BE GENEROUS
In 2014, the median charitable donation by CK residents was $350 which was comparable provincially. The median charitable donation by CK residents has increased from 2012 to 2014 from $320 to $350. In 2014, the largest proportion of donors in terms of age were residents 65+ (36%). United Way of CK ranked 22nd out of 112 United Ways in Canada and second out of 19 that raised between $1 million and $2 million in per capita giving.
