This community plan is focused on four key strategic areas: Economic Prosperity; People and Culture; A Healthy and Safe Community; and Environmental Sustainability. In addition, the Municipality of Chatham-Kent is committing to three critical success factors: Financial Sustainability, Open, Transparent and Effective Governance and Resiliency.
In order to ensure this plan is successful, everyone in the community – from current residents and businesses, to corporate partners and community leaders – need to work together to make CK Plan 2035 a reality. It is also important to show progress on our goals and progress reports will be made available on our website in CK Plan 2035 Progress.
CK Plan 2035 will be the community’s guide for long-term growth and sustainability in our region. It is therefore imperative that we align decision-making, business planning and budgeting processes to the plan and the implementation priorities of Council and citizens. This Community Plan will ensure that the immediate priorities of Council and its citizens are acted upon. Regular revisions to the Community Plan will be required to ensure responsiveness to emerging priorities, as we move to achieve the desired outcomes of CK Plan 2035.
In developing a Community Strategic Plan, we will set a course for its future.
Specifically, the Plan will:
- Provide structure for mutually accepted goals and a common agenda for moving forward as a community over the next three years;
- Define the purpose of the community at large and its role in achieving stated goals, and;
- Balance the aspirations of the community with municipal and local resources.
Each Area of Strategic Focus identifies goals that we will work to achieve, what the Corporation of the Municipality of Chatham-Kent and our community partners are currently working on to achieve these goals, as well as what individuals and community groups can do to help.
Targets for these goals that will identify our progress towards the long-term vision for the community. They will also act as a “measuring stick? against which to evaluate decisions that will keep the municipality on course in the coming years.
Chatham-Kent and its community partners strife to continue to be a strategy-driven resilient community guided by strategic priorities. The intent of the community strategy is to ensure that Chatham-Kent maintains a CK Plan that is responsive to new and emerging strategic priorities and can adapt to and recover from change.
This is our community. This is our plan. This is our CK.
