Children’s Services is the hub of children’s services in Chatham-Kent. The Municipal Children’s Services area manages child care and support services for children throughout Chatham-Kent through the Best Start initiative.
Employment & Social Services
The Employment & Social Services division provides financial, employment and support services through the Ontario Works Program on a short-term basis to persons and families with limited or no resources. Someone on Ontario Works may include the unemployed, disabled, the “working poor”, the aged and sole support parents.
The Mission Statement of the Public Health Unit is “Working together to build a healthy community”. The realization of this mission is achieved through the services and programs offered throughout Chatham-Kent.
Seniors Services provides complex and continuing care at Riverview Gardens, a 320 bed long-term care facility located at 519 King Street West in Chatham. Riverview Gardens is maintained by the Municipality of Chatham-Kent under the direction of Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care regulations and standards. In addition, the Division provides support to the 12 Senior Centres located throughout the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.
Housing Services is responsible for the funding and administration of Social Housing programs for Chatham-Kent. This includes all municipally owned housing projects, rent supplement units, co-operative housing, not for profit housing and federal housing projects.
The main offices for all divisions within the Health and Family Services Department, other than Seniors Services, are located at 435 Grand Avenue West in Chatham.
