One of the main ways we do this is by fostering good relationships among stakeholders, both internal to the corporation and external to it. The tasks of Partnership Development Services can be broken down into a few main areas:
The community benefits when all three levels of government – local, provincial and federal – share a common understanding of the community’s needs and work together towards common goals. Partnership Development Services helps facilitate this process by maintaining open communication and good working relationships with our local MPs and MPPs as well as other senior government officials whose portfolios may affect Chatham-Kent.
Community Development Activities
Partnership Development Services encourages community development and capacity building by becoming involved with and assisting the many community groups which are actively working to make Chatham-Kent the best it can be. One way we do this is through the Community Partnership Fund – an annual grant program established by Council and administered through Partnership Development Services.
Because of its mandate to leverage existing resources and to create synergies, as well as its role in tracking and securing senior government grant funding, Partnership Development Services is often asked to assist with large projects that involve multiple municipal departments. These projects often draw on resources from and involve partnerships with other community stakeholders and the senior levels of government.
