The Committee will be responsible for evaluating current Council remuneration levels, consider market competitiveness with municipal comparators and recommend adjustment(s). Council compensation has not been market adjusted since 2004 although it has been adjusted in some years for inflation.
At this time, we invite residents of Chatham-Kent to volunteer on the Citizen Review Committee on Council Compensation. It is expected that the Committee will meet September through November, with recommendations coming back to Council in December, 2016.
This committee will be made up of community representatives from a cross-section of organizations throughout the Municipality and selected by the Chief Administrative Officer in consultation with the Chief Legal Officer and Chief Human Resource Officer who are appointed as staff liaison to the Committee. We will endeavour to attract residents with skill sets that include knowledge of compensation, business acumen, governance models and representation from public and private sectors.
