TD Summer Reading Club at Chatham-Kent Public Library

Summer has arrived, and Chatham-Kent Public Library is once again welcoming children and their families to get excited about reading by registering for TD Summer Reading. Chatham-Kent Public Library is one of the 2,000 library systems across Canada inviting kids and their families to “Get Your Summer Read On” by registering for the annual TD Summer Reading Club, Canada’s biggest summer reading program for kids of all ages, all interests, and all abilities.

Register for TD Summer Reading Club at any of our Chatham-Kent Public Library Branches starting Saturday, June 24! This summer, CKPL is offering in-person programs! Reach out to your local branch or visit www.ckpl.ca for details.

The Club celebrates Canadian authors, illustrators and stories and is designed to inspire kids to explore the fun of reading their way – the key to building a lifelong love of reading. Studies have shown children who participate in summer reading clubs maintain their reading level, whereas children who do not read over the summer may suffer from what’s called “summer slide”. Summer slide is the term given to the loss of academic skills and knowledge that can occur over the course of the summer holidays. The TD Summer Reading Club is a great way to keep children reading and on the path to learning. The program was developed by Toronto Public Library in partnership with Library and Archives Canada and generously sponsored by TD Bank Group, helping to increase youth literacy.
